Pressure Control was just using a special coupler to transfer weight to the back wheels when towing a 4 wheel trailer-in effect using the hydraulic system to "pull" the back of the tractor down iyswim.

For everything else, mower, tedder, etc, you would just use Position. For ploughing, you would use the draught lever to set plough depth, position to raise and lower the plough out of work. MF's used to have two levers, one was Draught, one was position. An implement engaged in the soil will if set up correctly, pivot on the lower links (arms), causing the top link to push against the tractor if the going gets harder, this push causes the lower links to raise, then lower when the "push" stops. Harry Ferguson invented draught control, so it's on all Fergy's and Massey's. I'm no better, but haven't driven a tractor for 10 years or so.
3 POINT HITCH DRAFT CONTROL MANUALS
Always consult official service manuals from the manufacturer before attempting any service or repair.Really interesting to see how many people don't really understand how their (very expensive) kit works. Please contact us at if you identify an error or omission. A draft control mechanism for tractors having three-point hitching means for the attachment of ground-engaging implements to said tractor, comprising: (a) a plurality of lower hitch arms, each hitch arm pivotally mounted rearwardly on said tractor a first shaft (c) first support means for rotatably supporting said first shaft to said rearward. Whilst we strive to provide accurate data, on occasion information may be omitted or inaccurate. Suitable for heavy duty tractors with engines over 180 hp. Suitable for large tractors between 110-220 hp. Suitable for utility tractors between 50-140 hp.

Suitable for compact tractors under 50 hp. Suitable for lightweight implements on compact tractors and small ride on mowers. Selecting the appropriate category will enable the implement to be attached securely and safely. Linkage is categorised by the size of your tractor's engine. To include, linkage kits, link arms, drop arms, levelling boxes, top links, lynch pins and clips The Ferguson System revolutionised farming, mounting an implement, rather than towing it enabled tractors to carry a vast array of implements with improved safety, traction and all-round efficiency.Īt Anglo Agriparts we provide a wide variety of linkage parts and implements. Electronically-controlled rear hitch lower link draft control, position control, mixed control, float position. The 3 point linkage system was patented in the UK by Harry Ferguson in 1926, this was known as ‘the Ferguson System’ and included a range of purpose built agricultural implements. Powered by the hydraulic system and controlled by the driver, the lower lift arms are the only powered part of the 3 point linkage, designed to lift and lower any implement attached to them. On the other hand, the forces exerted by the implement on the tractor play an important role in the tractor performance, such as the traction, steering control. The lower lift arms are two rigid bars with ball joints each end.
3 POINT HITCH DRAFT CONTROL MANUAL
Manual top links have an adjustable shaft with a ‘ball’ end – one end is attached to the tractor and the other to the implement. Hydraulic top links are common on large machines, these allow adjustments to be made with ease at the touch of a button! The top link is rigid and is designed to set the operating angle alignment of the implement. Stabilisers can be fitted and adjusted to reduce implement ‘sway’, normally to avoid the implement fouling the tyres when traveling. The orientation of the implement can be altered longitudinally by adjusting the ‘levelling box’ and laterally by adjusting the top link. A stone or root is met by a ground engaging implement. Draft control is a system that adjusts depth automatically when resistance, eg. In most instances, the top link will also actuate the tractors built in ‘draft control’. Three point linkage systems are designed to shift the weight of the implement, such as a plough, to the tractor providing the tractor more traction. The top link (upper centre arm) is adjustable in length to allow the attachment to run at the desired level. Nor will it be able to go all of the way down. So say my draft control is in the middle position, the position control will not be able to raise the 3PH all of the way up. The draft control will limit what the position control can do. They comprise of three movable arms assembled in a triangle or ‘A’ formation, and are controlled by the hydraulic system allowing lifting, lowering and tilting. This is with no implement or load on the 3 point hitch. Then the Position Control will operate and control the 3pt lift position as you want it to. That in effect disables the Draft Control. On every tractor I have seen with Draft Control you pull the Draft lever all the way BACK not forward. Three point linkage (or three-point-hitch) is a standardised system to attach implements to tractors. The hitch should then be controlled by the position control lever.
